Oh my goodness, I am in love with the look and feel of the images from today's Maternity Session.

This beautiful Mummy to be wanted to use pastels in her session and the result is a gallery of gorgeous light, soft and very feminine images.  I think she looks fabulous and I loved the cardigans and wraps that she brought to use during the session they all worked wonderfully well and helped make the images very personal.  Of course no Maternity Session is complete without using some of my wraps and materials but it's always nice to use new props.

I must admit I am a huge fan of floral crowns so I was delighted that one was required for todays session.  Delicate and pastel was the order and I spent a peaceful half hour before the session creating the crown.  So pretty - both the crown and Mum!  Doesn't she look just amazing at 36 weeks...

I always say that Newborn Sessions are my favourite sessions with Cake Smashes coming a close second place.  However I must admit that Maternity Sessions are creeping up in the favourites.  They are lovely sessions, relaxed with a hint of anticipation and excitement.  Discussions about whether baby is a boy or girl, potential names and nearly finished nurseries, house moves, decorating and of course the impending Newborn Session!

Pregnancy is a truly amazing journey for a Woman.  No two pregnancies are the same and each brings different emotions, experiences and sometimes ailments.  However all pregnancies involve the most incredible changes to a woman's body albeit that some of these changes are more welcome than others.  Every Mum to be that has been to see me in the studio for a Maternity Session has had a concern about at least one area of her body that has changed during pregnancy.  We can discuss these concerns and use different poses and props to reduce the visibility of these areas of concern if required.  We can also discuss how images may be edited if necessary.  Having been through pregnancy twice myself I do understand these are very real concerns and I am very sympathetic towards them.  Although I must also say that these things always seem worse to you.  From the other side of the camera I just see a beautiful glowing woman doing the most amazing job of growing another human life and embarking on a whole new journey and I can assure you that this is what everyone else sees too.
