Oh my word - how adorable is this little bundle of 10 day old cuddles!!!
She is the second Newborn Baby to model some gorgeous props for me in my 2016 Newborn Baby Portfolio Sessions and she was such a chilled out baby.
As always, babies safety and comfort is the priority at all times during my photo sessions. If a baby isn't comfortable in a certain pose then we move onto another pose. This little lady didn't like being on her front so you will notice all of her images are taken on her back or her side. We still got gorgeous images, baby is comfortable and Mum is happy because her baby is settled. I am quite happy to attempt various (safe) poses with babies but I will never force or push a baby into a pose that they are uncomfortable with or that could be damaging to their delicate bones, muscles and joints. No image is worth risking a babies safety.
It doesn't always follow but generally I find that the younger the baby, the more receptive they are to posing as they are used to being in the foetal position and are still very sleepy. Hence the reason I suggest Newborn Sessions take place within 2 weeks of birth and preferably between 5 and 10 days after birth. This also means that Dad is usually still on Paternity leave so that we can also get some precious new family images too.
I think my favourite images are the autumn tones with the yellow/orange blanket and red/orange bonnet. I think baby looks just adorable in these, although she looks fabulous in all the images. If you have a favourite and would like to mention it in the comments tab above please do as it helps with future prop purchases.
If you are interested in booking a Newborn Session for yourself or as a gift for someone who is expecting then a great time to contact me is just after the 20 week scan. This gives us plenty of time to get a provisional date for a session booked in and for us to go through your requirements and any queries that you may have.

A big thank you to the talented Alice Rogers, owner at The Yarn Owl's Nest, who knitted and supplied the beautiful bonnets and lamb hat. Head on over to Alice's Etsy shop to see her wonderful selection of hand knitted hats for babies and toddlers. They are great photo props but also make wonderful gifts!
