Beautiful 13 day old baby girl from today's Newborn Baby Photography Session.  What a little angel she was, so very chilled and relaxed.

There have been some discussions in the media regarding Newborn Photography and the safety of babies during their sessions.  Some babies are being put at risk by Photographers who are taking chances with their safety.  Please, please check out your Photographer before booking a Newborn Session.

Portraits by Sarah is a member of BANPAS (Baby and Newborn Photography Association) and babies safety is priority throughout the entire session.  If an image cannot be taken safely then it isn't taken.  For any images where baby is positioned on a prop or in a pose where their head needs support an adult spotter and/or composite images are used.  For example the image above is a composite of the two images below.  At no point is baby expected to support her own head.  Apart from the obvious risk of falling, the strain on her wrists and neck would be far too great.

As you can see Baby is fully supported by Dad in both images.  I also work as quickly as possible whilst creating these poses to ensure that baby is in this position for the minimum amount of time to ensure that circulation to limbs, hands and feet is not restricted and baby's back and neck doesn't get sore.  I am also sensitive to ensure that Baby is not in any discomfort and if they do not want to be posed in a particular way we move on to an alternative pose.

*BABIES COMFORT AND SAFETY FIRST AT ALL TIMES*
